Clarinets, Saxophones & Bassoons Orchestration

FANTASTiC | 08 March 2019 | 1.52 GB

This orchestral wind course takes an in-depth look at the individual members of the clarinet, bassoon and saxophone families. Continue your studies of the wind section with professional orchestrator and instructor Thomas Goss! Now that you’ve mastered the upper winds in the Orchestration 103 course, it’s time to move to the clarinets, bassoons and saxophones. This course will teach you everything an orchestrator needs to know about these instruments, including their range, technique, and the role they play in the orchestra. The course begins with a complete look at the clarinet family, including the A and B-flat clarinets, the bass clarinet, the E-flat clarinet, the bass horn and the contrabass clarinet. Next, Thomas takes a detailed look at an occasional (but very significant) addition to the wind section: the saxophones. You learn about the history and characteristics of the soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, and you discover how they differ from other wind instruments.

In the next section, Thomas covers every member of the lowest standard woodwind family, the bassoon and contrabassoon. You will learn why the bassoon is much more than just a bass instrument for the wind section. The course closes with essential tips to help you with your orchestration studies.

How to Write an EDM Melody TUTORiAL

FANTASTiC | 12 March 2019 | 117 MB

This is not a video about production! Specifically, this is aimed at you if you are comfortable at creating beats and producing but not sure how the music side of things works? This course uses examples from the EDM genre, although the techniques discussed here can be used to produce any music in a pop style. The course will make use of Logic Pro X on an apple mac, but there is no reason that you can’t reproduce anything I do and show you here on another comparable DAW, on any computer.

Now that you have watched the video and hopefully have a better idea about how harmony and melody go together to create a great tune! I have created a MIDI file which includes three chords and is two bars long. The three chords are;
– (1) D minor (2) Bb Major and (3) F Major. The notes that make up these three chords are ;
— D minor – D, F, A
— Bb Major – Bb, D, F
— F Major – F, A, C
– In bar 1, begin to create your melody using the notes from D minor and Bb Major
– In bar 2, create your melody using the notes from F major

Please refer back to the ‘Example MIDI track’ video for pointers and tips for writing your own EDM melody! Good luck! I look forward to hearing what you create!!!
